“Nigeria at 60: The Future is Now” is designed to Leave No One Behind in Nigeria while creating the “Future We Want Now!
The project will spark youth creativity through exploration and exposure of their talents and skills towards building an egalitarian nation where Unity, Peace and Justice will reign. The project outcome is expected to produce a 15ft by 10ft “The New Nigeria on Canvas” painting by 60 Finalists from the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria.
Nigeria is currently facing many challenges ranging from insecurity to hunger, poverty, religious crisis, incessant killings, kidnapping, injustice, corruption, and others. These challenges can be summed up in three-fold: Poor Leadership, lack of economic development and threat to national unity. The aim of the project is to educate and engage the youth on national discourse whilst creating sustainable solutions that will promote social impact and entrepreneurship development.
Youth Empowerment The project will promote youth inclusiveness in national discourse, as well as youth empowerment, entrepreneurship skill and “art for peace Initiative”. The 60 participants will be trained and empowered for skill and entrepreneurship development in readiness to build the Future Now!
The Launch “My New Nigeria on a Canvas of Unity” will launch on October 1, 2020. The Virtual Exhibition will open for a period of 90 days to promote storytelling among participants, Art for Peace Initiative Community and startups.
About the Competition
Registration Registration is open to interested entrants on the 7th of September 2020, it will close 21st of September 2020.
Eligibility Application is welcome across different states in Nigeria. Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years, they will be required to fill an online registration formand write a Concept Note of not more than 250 words on “My New Nigeria on a Canvas of Unity”
Screening and Interview Screening exercise will hold virtually between September 14-16; the session will be handled by seasoned artists and art educators. Sixty (6) finalists and their nominated artists (54) will be presented officially on September 16, this will be followed by rigorous training sessions with the project’s Educators and Art Tutors.
Award Certificate of Participation and Prizes will be awarded to all participating artists during the Special Launch Event on October 1, 2020
